While Mozilla's more welcoming policy is emulated, it will hopefully provide a window for stablecoin issuers. But this window comes at a price. If stablecoins are ever to compete significantly with card networks, they should be de-linked from proof-of-work. This may mean avoiding extension to proof-of-work blockchains. At worst, it means waiting helplessly for proof-of-work chains where they already exist, like Ethereum, to switch to less power-hungry security methods.
