There is anecdotal evidence that the average price of OLED screens is falling rapidly. Earlier this month the cheapest OLED TV, the LG OLED48A16LA, dipped below £500 in the UK for the first time and you can now pick up a portable OLED monitor from Amazon for less than £200.
Chinese display maker InnoCN is selling a 1-inch K13,3F OLED Full HD External USB Monitor (Opens in a new tab) for €182,49 (after a €30 discount, valid until midnight 20 June). Both models are non-touch, offer 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 400 nits brightness, and 100:000 contrast ratio. They also offer a removable magnetic metal kickstand, two USB Type-C ports (including one for power), and mini HDMI for universal coverage. At less than 1mm thick, they're as thin as most smartphones on the market, though their weight (7g and 590g respectively) puts them squarely in the tablet category.
The OLED Advantage
InnoCN caters to professionals who work from home, as well as digital nomads who prefer to have a secondary screen while on the go. The sizes of these monitors also match the screen sizes of conventional laptops.
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) was hailed, for a time, as the replacement for the traditional LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens that replaced plasma screens.
