Nvidia enters zero confidence

Nvidia is moving to Zero Trust with its own platform, the company revealed.

In order to create something that other companies can develop solutions for, the Zero Trust Platform is built on three different technologies: NVIDIA BlueField Data Processing Units (DPU), NVIDIA DOCA, and the NVIDIA Morpheus Cybersecurity AI Framework.

Using technology it obtained during the Mellanox acquisition in early April 2021, BlueField DPU offloads tasks from the server's central processing units (CPUs) and frees up valuable computing power for other tasks.

Build the base

DOCA is the software development kit (SDK) that the DPU needs to be operational. Also, you can monitor data to understand what normal behavior looks like. After that, it is able to detect anomalies that could be potential threats.

Morpheus, on the other hand, is Nvidia's artificial intelligence security framework that uses machine learning to identify, capture, and eliminate previously unidentifiable threats and anomalies.

DOCA and Morpheus will work together to make Zero Trust possible, Nvidia said, adding that DPU will be able to validate users and isolate applications from the larger IT infrastructure.

DOCA will be updated to version 1.2, to get all the details needed to make Zero Trust possible, such as software / hardware authentication, hardware accelerated line rate data cryptography, distributed firewall support, as well as the application of various policies. .

Commenting on the news, Nvidia's Head of Enterprise IT Manuvir Das said that Nvidia does not want to be a cybersecurity solutions provider. Instead, you want to build a platform on which other cybersecurity companies can integrate their own solutions.

To that end, Juniper Networks will be the first provider to adopt BlueField and DOCA, the company said in the press release.

"Introducing new ways of putting technology to work (Zero Trust) will make it more prevalent in the industry," said Raj Yavatkar, CTO at Juniper Networks.

“Juniper has a long history of championing open architectures to provide choice for customers. With DOCA, each individual organization will be well aligned to meet their digital transformation needs. Applying these approaches will help customers better protect their cloud workloads and embrace zero trust principles. "
