NordVPN users can now create their own private network with the new Meshnet feature

NordVPN, one of the best VPN services, has just released a new feature that allows its users to create their own private network.

Instead of routing Internet connections through a VPN server, Meshnet allows users to route their traffic through other devices through private encrypted tunnels. This means that NordVPN subscribers will be able to connect their own devices, and those of family and friends.

“The launch of this feature is a game changer and will truly transform the way our users use NordVPN,” says Vykintas Maknickas, Product Strategist at NordVPN.

"Our product team has worked tirelessly over the past several years, which really began with the development of our flagship technology, NordLynx, the foundation behind Meshnet that allows us to deliver amplified privacy solutions without sacrificing industry-leading speed."

Meshnet officially launches today and will be available for all operating systems, from Windows, Linux and MacOs to Android and iOS smartphones.

How does NordVPN Meshnet work?

NordVPN Meshnet is a technology that will turn your own device into your personal private server. You can connect to it anywhere in the world.

Meshnet works with the WireGuard-based NordLynx protocol to keep your data safe on all your connections and can link up to 60 devices regardless of their location. For each device, you will be assigned a special IP address that will only work with Meshnet.

“All you need is a subscription to NordVPN,” says Maknickas.

NordVPN claims that Meshnet will make it easy to create your personal network. First, you'll need to enable Meshnet in your NordVPN app on all the devices you want to connect. At this point, you need to link your devices or send an invite to other NordVPN users. Type in the special IP address to access your personal private server.

When to use NordVPN Meshnet?

In theory, being able to build your own private network has several advantages and opens up new uses for VPNs. For example, you might consider using the Meshnet function to:
