LG OLED TVs just get an HBO Max update

The HBO Max streaming service has finally landed on LG TVs, bringing the platform that hosts Dune and The Suicide Squad to the TV maker's OLED and LCD screens (via CNET). LG and WarnerMedia (owner of HBO) made the announcement this week, shortly before The Suicide Squad hits the service (August 0). You'll also find it on Roku devices (OS XNUMX and later), current and new generation Xbox and PS consoles, Android TV (XNUMX or later), Google Chromecast, Apple TV, Internet browsers, and Samsung Smart TVs. So anyone with an LG smart TV should be able to access HBO Max, though we expect the webOS platform update to be only a few years old (Samsung TVs only get it in XNUMX and newer models). Although this may seem like a strange absence on LG TVs before this, it makes sense to reckon that HBO Max is partly new. It launched in the mid-XNUMXs and still finds its place on smart TV platforms like LG's webOS, though its coverage is now quite extensive.

Analysis: a streaming service to consider

HBO Max's main draw right now is surely its Warner Bros. movie sequel, with the entertainment conglomerate's entire slate of movies for XNUMX set to release the same day on HBO Max when they hit theaters. This has proven to be a contentious point for many managers, including the creatives involved in these projects, with the threat of legal action still in the air. Plus, Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney for releasing Black Widow on Disney Plus on the exact same day it was released in theaters, so there's no question that the loss of box office tickets hurts the actors' earnings, even when they do. They are successful stars. . For those who always feel (or don't) feel safe in crowded public spaces, watching Dune at home on a high-performance LG OLED TV will still be a great experience. HBO Max also offers a selection of free episodes for various TV shows on its platform, supposedly to attract subscribers and also interest them in the HBO offering. There are free controllers available for Batwoman, Euphoria, Game of Thrones, Lovecraft Country, Doom Patrol, among many others.
