Netflix has revealed the original shows and movies that streamed the most over the holiday period, and some of the results are a bit of a surprise. George Clooney's science fiction film The Midnight Sky will become the most released film in recent months, reaching an estimated 72 million homes in its first 28 days of release. That beats out some more obvious choices, like the rom-com Holidate (68 million households) and Kurt Russell's gorgeous Santa movie The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (61 million). Robert Rodriguez's latest film, We Can Be Heroes, was also a huge success, with 43 million views in the same 28-day span. Note that Netflix counts two minutes as viewed, so if you turned off The Midnight Sky 10 minutes later because it felt a bit heavy, yours still counts as viewed. On the TV side, The Crown season 4 brought in more viewers in its first 28 days than any season before it, perhaps because it's catching up on recent history that many viewers will remember. 100 million households have watched The Crown as a whole since its inception, which is a staggering number. The costume drama Bridgerton is also a huge success, with 63 million viewers, making it the fifth biggest original series launch to hit Netflix. Other TV show hits include the offbeat but engaging sci-fi show Alice In Borderland (18 million) and the recent French series Lupine, which is slated to garner 70 million views after its first month of release. (Thanks, deadline).
