US Presidential Candidates Don't Use Basic Email Security

A new study found that nearly all of the presidential candidates in the 2020 United States presidential election are behind on email security, despite the fact that email accounts are not the same. Hillary Clinton had been attacked and raped by Russian hackers just three years ago. Email security company Agari has confirmed that only Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren uses a Message Reporting, Reporting and Compliance, or DMARC, authentication strategy to protect her email accounts. This email security feature sits on top of the Sender Policy Framework (SKF) and Domain Identification Mail (DKIM) security protocols that use cryptography to verify sender email and can mark it as spam . or reject it if the email is not validated correctly. . According to Agari, the remaining 11 candidates, including Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden and outgoing President Donald Trump, including Bernie Sanders, who has protected email security, do not use DMARC to protect their campaign areas.

DMARC

By not using DMARC to protect their email accounts, Agari warned that the 2020 presidential candidates could see their campaigns mimicked by spam campaigns and phishing attacks. The company's Armen Najarian explained why using DMARC to protect their email accounts had become increasingly important, stating, "DMARC is more important than ever because it had been implemented with the right strategy in the domain used for swordfish John Podesta, would never have received the targeted email attack from agents Russia." DMARC adoption by Fortune 500 companies has increased slightly since the beginning of this year. However, while most companies use DMARC, Agari said only 16 percent of the world's 500 richest companies reject or quarantine unvalidated email. via TechCrunch
