MultiChoice has changed the name of its online streaming service from DStv Now to DStv. MultiChoice has said in the past that a standalone streaming service is in the works. The service will always allow customers to see what they want. The complete DStv package will be available without a satellite connection. Essentially, MultiChoice wants people to sign up without a set-top box or satellite, presumably to compete with international streaming giant Netflix and complement its own Showmax OTT service. This is another nod to the trend towards standard set-top box streaming services that has been popular for years. “We changed the name to DStv Now but kept all the features the same, you can stream your channels live and watch them catch up too,” MultiChoice said in a statement. All DStv subscribers are eligible for DStv streaming service regardless of their plan, at no additional cost.
