CBDCs, not cryptocurrencies, will be the cornerstone of the future monetary system, says the BIS


The BIS, an association of the world's major central banks, devotes a 42-page chapter in its 2022 annual economic report to laying out a blueprint for the future of the global monetary system. From this point of view, there is only room for some of the underlying technical features of cryptocurrencies, such as programmability and tokenization, not for cryptocurrencies themselves.
