Mandalorian Season 3 Already Written By Jon Favreau

While The Mandalorian season 2 doesn't even arrive until October, season 3 of the Disney Plus hit Star Wars has begun pre-production, according to a new report. Creator Jon Favreau wrote the next season of the show "for a while," and Lucasfilm's world-class art department apparently began work on the next season starting April 20. This is according to Variety, who notes that the art department should start working on the show now, as it requires "such a long lead time," their source says. There is no real reason to doubt this report. Disney's Bob Iger mentioned that we could expect more from The Mandalorian, including spin-offs with other characters. He said that "more of the Mandalorian would come later, including the possibility of giving it more characters and the possibility of taking these characters in their own direction in terms of series." Who could these characters be? Nothing else has been revealed on this front. We saw a report suggesting that The Clone Wars favorite Ahsoka Tano will become a guest character in The Mandalorian season 2, played by Rosario Dawson. We bet there would be few objections to this character getting a live-action spinoff, but at this point, it's just wishful thinking. Our best guess is that Mandalorian season 3 will be targeting a similar release date to the previous two seasons, likely in October or November 2021.

The Mandalorian is going nowhere

Disney Plus has surpassed 50 million subscribers, at least in part thanks to the success of The Mandalorian, which to date remains its only original blockbuster. It makes sense that Disney would want to commit to the future of the show. I hope Baby Yoda is here to stay. If waiting for more episodes is killing you, an eight-episode documentary titled Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian kicks off May 4, aka Star Wars Day. Or, you know, you can watch The Mandalorian again.
