Recently leaked photo of the Lenovo RTX 4090 model reveals a huge three-slot design

As the Nvidia GTC event on September 20 approaches, there have been tons of rumors and leaks, especially regarding the Nvidia RTX 4090, which will make its official debut. The latest leak, first revealed by Weibo (Opens in a new tab) and reported by Wccftech (Opens in a new tab), is the Lenovo Legion GeForce RTX 4090 model, which may feature a massive three-slot design that measures 14 inches.

The pictures also seem to show the OEM length, which is pretty impressive in size. The triple slot is a design option seen on the RTX 3080 Ti as well. Lenovo released two other models with similar overall designs, the RTX 3090 Ti and RX 6900 XT.

There are also previously leaked photos of the card shown inside the Lenovo Legion gaming PC, showing how it cools. According to Wccftech, the card's triple fan cooler pushes air through the heatsink, and since the heatsink and backplate extend past the PCB, air is pushed through the back plate cutting. We can also see in another photo the number of heat pipes attached to the heatsink and what could be a vapor chamber.

Is the RTX 4090 worth it?

These leaks show a clearer picture of the RTX 4090 and regardless of the model, it looks like it will be a power-hungry graphics card.

But what's the point of such a powerful (and power-hungry) card? The reality is that most PC games aren't powerful enough to outrun an RTX 3060, let alone harness the power of a 3090 or one of the 4000 series.

It could be argued that the upcoming Lovelace cards, which include the 4090, could reduce the price of the previous generation, but that would have happened over time anyway, since the main cause of the inflated prices: the fall in crypto values , especially Ethereum. , which means more cards on the market and fewer purchases by crypto miners, is no longer a problem now.

Considering how much power the 4090 is expected to use, at least 650W of power and possibly more when overclocked, PC builders will need to build around this board. Not to mention the size, which will also affect the overall build.

And worst of all is whether the specs and part numbers are worth the cost of power, which, based on leaks so far, doesn't appear to be the case. Of course, these are just guesses based on hearsay, so take it all with a grain of salt.
