This is according to inside sources speaking to the Wall Street Journal, claiming that the windfall in annual online sales will fall from its usual July window two months later in the year. Like companies around the world, Amazon has felt the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, causing inventory and distribution problems. It is believed that moving to a later date will give Amazon time to restore "normal" to its services and workforce. The news also means that Amazon should be able to fulfill a greater variety of orders and move closer to a return to the reputation for fast delivery that has made Amazon a force to be reckoned with in online sales. During the pandemic, it has been forced to limit its sales to essential items only, while its free overnight and 1-hour delivery services, exclusive to Amazon Prime subscribers, have seen delays.
