Elden Ring update weakens one of the most frustrating abilities in the game

The latest update to the Elden Ring has been released, weakening an ability that has been frustrating players ever since the action RPG was released.

Elden Ring patch 1.06 includes a major change to the Bloodhound Step: an Ash of War that allows you to dodge at high speed, while temporarily turning you invisible. It's a powerful ability that dominated the Elden Ring PvP metagame for months and frustrated many players who would rather see the other side.

According to the patch notes (opens in a new tab), the ability's movement distance and invisibility time have been significantly reduced. Relying on it is now discouraged, as its effectiveness will decrease after continued use, though you can partially increase its movement distance by equipping fewer items. If Bloodhound Step was your choice in PvP battles, it seems like you need to come up with a new strategy.

Big changes have also been made to the Elden Ring summoning system. Summon signals can now be sent to summon parties in multiple zones, including those outside of the one you are currently in. Region.

This means you won't have to waste time pacing around in one place, twiddling your thumbs while waiting for a player to call for help. He can now be summoned to help anyone, anywhere. However, there is a caveat. According to the patch notes, you will not be able to send a signal to any Mohgwyn Palace summoning parties.

Balance changes have also been made to the ability Stacker Corpse, reducing its damage and bleed buildup. The Quick Step ability has also been changed. You'll be able to activate it more often in quick succession to "circle the enemy when locked", though its effectiveness will decrease when used continuously.

Finally, the White Mask NPC Varré's questline has been modified. You now have the option to complete the quest by defeating a specific NPC instead of participating in a multiplayer invasion. This is especially good news for anyone who isn't a PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber and therefore doesn't have access to multiplayer.

The release of Elden Ring updates has slowed down in recent weeks. Patch 1.05 was released in June, but it wasn't very exciting (opens in a new tab). Find the full patch notes for this latest update below.
