In a year of delays, this stomach-churning horror FPS will be released sooner

After months of major game delays, the next horror FPS bucks the trend and launches a week ahead of schedule.

Following a frankly crude gameplay reveal two years ago, and another reveal during Summer Game Fest, the twisted shooter Scorn will launch on Friday, October 14. You'll be able to jump into their twisted world of biomechanical abominations seven days earlier than planned.

Developer Ebb Software didn't give a reason for the new release date, but did release a new (pretty creepy) trailer announcing the change; you can see it below. Scorn will be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and PC, coming to Xbox Game Pass on launch day

rythm change

The Xbox console exclusive is inspired by the biomechanical art of HR Giger (who you may know better as the visual designer of Ridley Scott's Alien) and the gothic surrealism of Zdzisław Beksiński (who painted many terrifyingly creepy skeletons that occasionally appear on the internet. ) . Expect to see a lot of organic-looking architecture and beefy weaponry. it is very horrible

Fans have been waiting for the release of Scorn for a long time. The game started as a Kickstarter project in 2017 and was originally scheduled to release the following year. Once this year passed, it was set for 2021, before being postponed again to this year. It seems that Ebb Software is confident that another delay will not occur.

An early release is quite a first in the gaming industry today. A number of major triple-A games have been delayed this year as developers recover from disruptions from the pandemic and the usual unexpected bugs in game development. Starfield has been pushed back to 2023, as have Forspoken and Lord of the Rings Gollum. Hogwarts Legacy has also been delayed with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Ubisoft's beleaguered swashbuckler Skull and Bones also lagged a bit behind schedule.

These delays have left a large number of games released in the last few months of this year, providing a short window of time for Scorn to fit in before all the blockbuster titles consume our time. Like all the best horror games, the developers at Scorn know that time matters.
