Have you stopped using Netflix? Your subscription could now be automatically canceled

Netflix has revealed a new feature that will automatically cancel your subscription if you haven't used the streaming service for a while. It'll only start if you're an active subscriber and haven't streamed anything for a whole year, so you'll probably have to pay some money not to notice. It was introduced because Netflix doesn't want these types of viewers to pay for something they don't use. According to Netflix, a few hundred thousand people meet this criteria, representing less than half a percent of its overall user base. After a year without using Netflix, users will start receiving emails or app notifications asking if they want to continue subscribing to the service. If they don't respond, the subscription will be cancelled. At this point, though, it's not really finished, says Eddy Wu of Netflix's product innovation team in a blog post. These expired subscribers can reactivate their accounts within 10 months, which will always contain all profiles and display user preferences. Wow, imagine missing out on The Witcher. How can you call it living?

It probably won't happen to you

As the statistics indicate, it is highly unlikely that you will subscribe to Netflix and not watch anything for a year. Still, it's a useful feature if you decide to stop streaming TV shows and pick up another hobby that has left you for several years. Even then, how could you do without watching another season of Nailed It?
