Framie.io brings professional video editing to the home office

Frame.io has unveiled a number of new features and updates to its remote video collaboration platform ahead of NAB 2022.

A new Apple TV 4K app will turn heads, allowing content professionals to view their video clips in up to 4-bit 10K HDR. Especially after more than 100 professional editors recently criticized Apple for its handling of Final Cut Pro video editing software.

The new app is designed to take advantage of the Apple TV 4K display to reproduce high-quality, professional projections outside of the studio environment.

“Imagine being able to watch a color correction session from your couch or desk. Or being able to see the details of shots that require a lot of visual effects,” the company wrote.

From the camera to the cloud

Cloud integration is also high on the agenda for Frame.io. In February 2021, the Adobe-owned company announced Camera to Cloud, a service that enables professionals to securely transfer video from set to post-production suites.

It has now revealed new integration partnerships with Teradek, Atomos, Viviana Cloud, FDX FilmDataBox and FilmLight.

Building on a commitment to supporting filmmakers at every level, Frame.io will now also connect to the FiLMiC Pro app for iPhone, making the process of transferring images from mobile phones to a video editing tool easier. .

Strengthen security

The company has also put in place new security measures.

A new Digital Rights Management (DRM) tool has been implemented to prevent unauthorized access or sharing of videos and screenshots. Content will be encrypted upon download and can only be viewed via the Frame.io website, iPhone app, or Apple TV.

For administrators, two-factor authentication (2FA) has finally arrived. Adding an extra layer of security to logins, 2FA can be enabled account-wide, with colleagues using SMS or authenticator apps like Authy, Google, Microsoft, Okta to verify their identity.

The latest Frame.io announcements follow the recent reveal of Frame.io for Creative Cloud. Playing an increasingly important role in the Adobe ecosphere, the platform now integrates with the Adobe After Effects video effects tool (and is available for free to Creative Cloud subscribers).
