Chingari developer website contains malware and a hacker

Rising TikTok alternative Chingari has swept social media with several million downloads in the past few days. However, a new report says that the website of the company behind the app has malicious content on its web pages. Robert Baptiste, a security researcher by the name of Twitter Elliot Anderson, said the website of Globussoft, the company under which the Chingari app was incubated, had been compromised. He included a report on how the website has a crash script on all of its web pages, which means that clicking links within will redirect users to multiple websites linked by a backdoor. Although the app is not related to this issue, Robert expressed concern that the app had similar security issues as the website. Reacting to this, Chingari co-founder Sumit Ghosh said that user security on his website/app is not compromised.

He also assured that the wp security issue of the website would be resolved soon. In addition, a UI developer by the Twitter handle @CitizenK said that his Bitdefender, which is antivirus and cybersecurity software, may have caught a Trojan horse linked behind the Globussoft website. He raised concerns about how to trust an app if the website behind it uses the devices for crypto mining. That being said, Chingari has yet to respond to this. If we recall, the Indian government banned TikTok and 58 other apps in the country for data theft and security reasons. As a result, Chingari, a locally developed app, has grown in popularity with 3.5 million downloads per day. We'll have to wait and see how the company reacts to criticism on its developer's website in the future.
