Virgin Media has officially launched its new Gig1 broadband service, which offers incredible speeds of 1.1 Gbps and comes with a new Hub 4 router. For starters, it is only available in Southampton, but in another city the British will follow shortly.
Gigabit broadband service comes with an average upload speed of 1,104 Mbps during peak hours, the fastest in the UK and more than 20 times faster than the average UK connection by Ofcom's numbers.
Gig1 offers a 52Mbps download speed, not the fastest in the UK, but by far, but fast enough for the most part.
A subscription for broadband starts at € 62 per month, in an 18-month contract (which includes a price freeze for at least two years, the company notes).
