The fifth installment in the iconic Scream franchise is one of the most anticipated new horror movies of 2022, with audiences flocking to see Ghostface in action again after 10 years.
Although released without the digital title, the film is a direct sequel to 4's Scream 2011 (hence its unofficial moniker Scream 5), and the first in the series not to be directed by its creator, Wes Craven, who died in 2015.
Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are the new filmmakers behind the camera, though horror fans can expect plenty more of the blood, gore, and leaps and bounds that have become synonymous with franquicia.
So where can the public find Scream 5? Is it streaming or exclusively in theaters? We've done our best to answer all of your burning questions below.
Is Scream 5 only in theaters?
Right now, Scream 5 is playing exclusively in theaters around the world.
As with many other films to hit theaters in recent years, production on Scream 5 has been delayed due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions. Thankfully though, editing was completed in time for the film's scheduled release date of January 14, 2022.
Where is the new Scream 5 movie airing?
Scream 5 is currently not available for streaming. Instead, it plays exclusively in theaters.
There has been no official confirmation as to whether the film will hit streamers in the near future, though since Scream 5 is distributed by Paramount, we hope to see it appear on Paramount Plus in a few months.
A Quiet Place Part II, also distributed by Paramount, premiered on the company's streamer 45 days after its theatrical debut. If Scream 5 follows a similar pattern, Paramount Plus subscribers can expect to see the movie in early March 2022.
That said, the quick arrival of A Quiet Place Part II at Paramount Plus came in a very different Covid-19 situation (when theaters were once again about to close). As such, we can't be sure that Paramount applies the same treatment to Scream 5.

Is Scream 5 coming to HBO Max or Peacock?
In our opinion, no, Scream 5 is not coming to HBO Max or Peacock, at least not in the near future. Since the film is distributed by Paramount, its streaming destination will most likely be Paramount Plus.
Is Scream 5 the last movie in the franchise?
Although no concrete plans for more Scream movies have been publicly announced, the box-office success of Scream 5, which became the first film to dethrone Spider-Man: No Way Home from the top spot in the US. -light of future entries in the franchise.
Additionally, shortly after the film's theatrical release, the hashtag #Scream6 began trending on Twitter, suggesting that fans are eager to see more Ghostface in the years to come.
