Disney Plus streaming service more than half its first year, and the House of Mouse streaming service is currently fighting Netflix, Amazon Prime and Co. for its subscriber dollars. In this piece, we'll explain everything we know about Disney Plus. Think of it as a guide if you're thinking of getting Disney Plus, or an explainer of what's going to happen if you're already subscribed to the service. If you're looking for a streaming service that brings together movies and TV series from Marvel, the Star Wars universe, and National Geographic, then Disney Plus is the place to be. This includes the entire Skywalker saga, the Star Wars spinoff movies, and the flagship western, The Mandalorian. Then there's the vast majority of the MCU movies, and all of the Simpsons. They are also available in 4K HDR at no additional cost. It's already a lot to chew on, but streaming services live and die on their new and upcoming content. Fortunately, we recently enjoyed the release of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Artemis Fowl, the Kenneth Branagh-directed film inspired by Eoin Colfer's fascinating YA novel. When it comes to shows, there are Disney Plus exclusives like WandaVision, The Falcon, and The Winter Soldier, and more from the iconic Din Djarin in The Mandalorian season 2.

Disney Plus shows: original series and classic shows
(Image credit: Fox) Current Disney Plus Originals include the Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars, which are by far the best reasons to subscribe. A recent series called Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian explores the making of the show starring Baby Yoda. Other originals include the excellent documentary series The Imagineering Story and children's shows like Diary of a Future President, Zenimation, High School Musical: The Series, and the Pixar short film series Forky Asks a Question. Disney Plus offers many nonfiction shows, including Shop Class, Marvel's Hero Project, The Big Fib, Disney Family Sunday, and Disney Fairy Tale Weddings. As you can imagine, a large part of their programming is aimed at families. In terms of classic shows, Disney Plus offers a smaller range of old series compared to its collection of movies. What's here is mostly animated, like DuckTales, Recess, Gargoyles, Gummi Bears, Goof Troop, TaleSpin, and various Marvel series, including the '90s animated series X-Men and Spider-Man. The heavy hitter, of course, is The Simpsons. There are now 30 seasons on the air, as well as The Simpsons Movie. You'll also find other live shows, like Marvel's Runaways and Boy Meets World. But what about the future? The reason to be excited about the future of Disney Plus is its upcoming Originals, a big-budget lineup of new Disney Plus shows that put characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars to work.
