After all, Arrested Development isn't leaving Netflix

It looks like Arrested Development won't be leaving Netflix after all.

In mid-February, we reported that Arrested Development would be leaving Netflix on Wednesday, March 15. At the time, the world's biggest streaming service was on the verge of losing the hugely popular sitcom from its catalog in territories where it was available. A notice on Arrested Development's Netflix homepage, via a screenshot we obtained in February, confirmed that it would no longer be available on the platform after Tuesday, March 14.

However, it appears that a last-minute deal was struck between Netflix and many other parties to keep Arrested Development on the service.

As first reported by What's on Netflix(Opens in a new tab), the show's release was initially delayed before its release date was scrapped. When Netflix users search for Arrested Development on the platform now, the show's home page doesn't contain a "Last Day to Watch" warning, meaning subscribers can continue streaming it whenever they want.

TechRadar can confirm that Arrested Development continues to be available to watch on Netflix in the US and UK. We've also reached out to Netflix to find out why the series is still streaming on their platform, though the most likely solution is for Netflix to renew its existing licensing agreement to continue offering Arrested Development on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Either way, we'll update this article if we hear back.

Given that it was only days away from losing Arrested Development from its streaming platform, Netflix is sure to breathe a huge sigh of relief over its retention. Because? Well, because two of its biggest streaming rivals would have benefited from halted development off Netflix's shores.

In the United States, Hulu also has a license agreement that allows you to stream Arrested Development Seasons 1-3 on their service. Recently, Disney Plus confirmed that they reached a deal to stream the same three seasons on Disney Plus UK. The move came in response to Netflix apparently being on the verge of losing Arrested Development from its content library, ensuring that UK viewers could continue to watch the sitcom.

With Netflix renovando su acuerdo de licencia para llevar Arrested Development a los hogares de las personas, será fascinating ver en qué plataforma lo verán los fanáticos del programa. We're banking on Netflix continuing to be the go-to source for people to watch the show, especially since Netflix is the only place you can stream Seasons 4 and 5 - these installments are Netflix Originals. , despues de todo.

Still, there are viewers around the world who have a Hulu and/or Disney Plus subscription, not a Netflix subscription. For those people, being able to watch Arrested Development on those competing platforms will be a blessing.

We've also reached out to Hulu and Disney to see if they'll be affected by Netflix's renewal of their deal to show Arrested Development, and will report back if we hear back.
