Dead Island 2 Trailers

For a long time, the only Dead Island 2 trailer we had was the original reveal scene from 2014. It was tasty stuff, showing a rapidly deteriorating runner running down Venice Beach in Los Angeles.

While it didn't reveal anything about the gameplay, it did set the tone for what we could expect from the tone of Dead Island 2.

Skip ahead eight years and now we have two new trailers for the open world Zombie survival game. A new cinematic, in the vein of the original, gives you a tasty taste of this apocalyptic version of Los Angeles.

However, after an eight-year wait between movie trailers, you can understand fans wanting to see Dead Island 2 in action. Fortunately, developer Dambuster Studios was happy to cooperate and also released a gameplay trailer, showing just how violent this long-awaited sequel will be.

Fans will be waiting impatiently. Development on Dead Island 2 has changed hands twice since the sequel was first announced eight years ago, leaving gamers disappointed with the past. It was the first in development at Yager, the same studio that created Spec Ops: The Line, and was originally scheduled for a 2015 release. But that never materialized.

In 2016, it was announced that development had moved to Sumo Digital. Three years later, the game has switched studios again, with Dambuster announcing that it has resumed work on the game. Fingers crossed he crosses the finish line this time.

As for platforms, Dead Island 2 will be coming to both new and old consoles, along with PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, Xbox One and PC, all confirmed.

Now that Dead Island has been revealed again, we're starting to learn a bit more about it. Our first information actually comes from Amazon's leaked listing for the game, which revealed that Dead Island 2 is not set on an island. Instead, it's set in Los Angeles, or "HELL-A."

Screenshots on the game's listing page showed that the game will continue the series' focus on melee combat and its blurb promised a lot of gore, stating that the game's combat will deliver "the most intense first-person experience ever." , visceral and bloody as possible".

You will have a variety of weapons to choose from, depending on the propaganda, each offering different tactical advantages. The game will also feature six playable characters, each with customizable abilities with, Dambuster says (opens in a new tab), an "all-new ability system that lets you instantly re-spec and try out the craziest builds."

In an interview with PCGamer (opens in a new tab), creative director James Worrall revealed that while the game doesn't have a branching narrative, the characters of the six players offer different perspectives.

“Each player character has their own voice and their own dialogue,” he said. "So you could have a character who is particularly driven, energetic, or optimistic. You could have another character who is a little more cynical. Some characters are quite understated, subtle. We wrote these characters to reflect broad playstyles."

When it comes to zombies, there will also be variety, and Dambuster confirms that there will be "dozens of different types of zombies, each with their own mutations, attacks, and hundreds of LA-themed variations."

Dead Island 2's story remains a mystery, though it looks like you'll be playing as a survivor of a deadly virus that has destroyed Los Angeles. By teaming up with other survivors, you'll try to "uncover the truth behind the outbreak" while "exploding the zombie inside" yourself.

As part of this package, Dead Island 2 will support single player play, but there will also be a cooperative mode, with up to three players participating. However, we still have a lot to learn about how the cooperative works.

In a preview of the game, IGN (opens in a new tab) referred to the game's "FLESH" system, or "Fully Local Evisceration System for Humanoids," which "procedurally shreds zombies with every keypress." and makes the game a real bloody experience. . We saw it ourselves in the trailer.

Regarding combat, IGN said that the game "encourages constant movement, dodging, kicking, and jumping as integral parts" and that while there is a stamina system, it's not extremely restrictive, allowing you to "experiment with a variety of techniques." different". .

Dead Island 2 consulted a diversity council for a more "representative" LA
During a recent interview with Dead Island 2 developer Dambuster Studios, art director Adam Olsson told The Loadout (opens in a new tab) how they approached their version of Los Angeles. While there are more comic hype like Hell-A's Muscle Beach has bodybuilding zombies, Olsson confirmed that the decisions were made after speaking with Dambuster's diversity council.

"It was a really interesting exercise trying to break down what makes something LA and what stands out as a really unique Los Angeles experience. We were very careful to take anything that might sound like a hurtful stereotype and that's why in the studio to have a diversity board to help us understand if we've taken something too far," says Olsson.

“The board has worked closely with us to make sure we set a good tone because we want to make sure we bring Dead Island 2 into the 21st century. We want to be contemporary and we want to be representative.

Alexa game control integration
Dead Island 2 will come with an interesting feature: Alexa Game Control. Announced at Gamescom 2022, Alexa Game Control will give PC and console gamers the ability to use voice commands to do things in-game. According to an Amazon blog post (opens in a new tab), with Alexa Game Control, you'll be able to say things like "where's the nearest workbench?" and "switch to my best weapon" during gameplay to do things like find the nearest workbench and, uh, switch to your best weapon. The message even mentions the ability to "handle hordes of zombies" simply by saying "hey zombie."

Dead Island 2 will be the first game to support the feature, and the FAQ (opens in a new tab) reveals that it will be available in English in North America for PC and Xbox at launch, with more regions, languages, and maybe even Platforms to lower the line.
