Apple reportedly promised publishers to improve its News Plus service

Apple News Plus, for which you can pay $10 a month in the US, is an important part of Apple's strategy for digital services, but a new report suggests that publishers aren't very keen on the platform so far. - and that Apple is promising improvements. According to Business Insider, publishers aren't hitting revenue levels Apple might suggest before launching the service in March. Although initial uptake was seemingly quick, it appears that few users have retained their News Plus subscription beyond the initial free trial. It's hard to know for sure because Apple hasn't revealed a full breakdown of subscriber numbers. One of the problems with the service, according to Business Insider's sources, is that readers don't know what is or isn't included for free in Apple News: A small News Plus icon is often the only difference.

Problems with the publisher.

Publishers are concerned that the News Plus experience seems "unfinished" and would like to see a "more intuitive" way for users to get into the app, it seems. We do believe that the sources speaking to Business Insider, magazines, and newspapers also want Apple to make it easy for them to convert their digital content to a format compatible with the Apple News app. For its part, Apple listens to the concerns of publishers and wants to make improvements to the News Plus service in the different areas that we have already mentioned. Apple hasn't publicly responded to the report, but it will know that publishers should be pleased with the success of News Plus. Later this year, it will also launch Apple Arcade, an integrated mobile gaming subscription. Via 9to5Mac
