Amazon has officially confirmed the dates for this year's edition of its annual two-day sales event.
Amazon Prime Day 2022 will take place on Tuesday, 12 July y Wednesday, 13 of July. This is very close to our scheduled date, although we are slightly behind schedule as the retailer has moved the event to later in the week, rather than the usual Monday and Tuesday timeframes. It's also a little earlier in the month than in previous years, although the online retailer's last sales event started in June instead of July.
Either way, it's almost time we started looking for thousands of Prime Day deals on everything from laptops, TVs, and game consoles to home goods, fashion, and fitness. We'll round up the best discounts across all these categories and more in our dedicated sales hubs so you don't miss out on the action when they go live for Prime members starting at midnight on July 12 in your local time.
As mentioned, Prime Day is designed for customers who are signed up for the Amazon Prime subscription service. A handful of deals can sneak through the paywall network, meaning you'll still be able to get a discount on certain products without a Prime membership, though most are exclusive to Prime members.
Fortunately, the retailer is now offering a convenient 30-day free trial (opens in a new tab) of its Prime service for new subscribers. If used today, it'll cover you through this year's Prime Day sales and beyond. You'll also get access to all kinds of Amazon Prime benefits, including fast same-day or next-day delivery, the best Amazon Prime Video shows, Prime Gaming, and more. If you sign up for the free trial and don't want the service to continue after Amazon Prime Day, you can cancel during or after to avoid incurring unwanted charges.
Amazon Prime Day 2022: what to expect
When it comes to the deals we expect to see on Prime Day, which has grown to resemble Black Friday and Cyber Monday in recent years, the best discounts are often on Amazon's own products. That means it's the best time of year to buy tech like Echo smart home devices, Kindle readers, Fire tablets, Fire TVs, Ring security devices and more.
That said, we sometimes see deals on more expensive items from top brands like Apple, Samsung, LG, Nintendo, and Sony on everything from laptops, TVs, game consoles, and smartwatches. Although, naturally, these tend to run out quickly.
