T3 fit | technological radar

One minute review

The T3 Fit stands out as one of our favorite hair dryers due to its lightweight and compact design. And indeed, this is just one model from a line of stylish hair accessories from the American company T3. Launched in 2003 as a "new beauty tech company", T3 currently sells a wide range of hair devices and technologies that have been carefully designed to enhance your salon experience. Choose from hair dryers, flat irons, curling irons, and other useful and coveted styling tools.

The T3 Fit Compact Hair Dryer arrived in February 2021 and while it's not the most recent release, it's still a popular choice for connoisseurs due to its lightweight yet powerful design. T3 has since released the equally stylish T3 Afar in January 2022, which is even lighter and comes with a foldable handle making it perfect for travel. For its part, the T3 AireLuxe is the latest hair dryer from T3, launched in April 2022; Features 15 heat and speed settings to make it ideal for all hair types.

The T3 Fit is designed to be 30% smaller and 20% lighter than a full-size T3 hair dryer, yet still packs a powerful punch. On board the T3 Fit is all the amazing technology you'd expect from a standard hair dryer. Features IonAir technology to deliver a wide stream of ion-infused air to dry hair gently and quickly. Plus, its ion generator saturates the airflow with negative ions for a smooth, shiny finish; we noticed how well it works on frizzy hair. While the control buttons aren't the easiest to use and feel a bit clunky in terms of design, we enjoyed using the T3 Fit due to its comfortable grip, quiet operation, smooth balanced airflow, and lightweight design. In short, we think it's best suited for those who want the power of a standard hair dryer in a more compact form.

T3 Fit price and availability

At the time of writing, T3 hair dryers and styling tools can be purchased online in the US and UK, with the T3 Fit model costing US$119.99/€130.

We think it's a fair price for a hair dryer that offers all the functionality of a full-size hair dryer, but in a more compact form. Plus, in terms of style, T3's products look and feel premium, and the brand offers all of its best-selling hair dryers at reasonable prices below €221/€200. By comparison, you can expect to pay around €210 / €189 for the popular GHD Helios and from €354 / €320 for the Dyson Supersonic.

T3 fit design

The design of the T3 Fit looks and feels luxurious, with the hair dryer neatly presented in a white box. Inside the box you will find that it sits alongside a single concentrator nozzle, and if you choose to buy it with its compatible diffuser, it will come in a separate box. You can also choose from a wide range of accessories in the T3 range, including a soft paddle brush, clip kit and absorbent luxury turban towel.

We love the clean styling of the T3, which has a gloss white finish with rose gold accents. It's also available in an attractive graphite finish if you prefer. While it is comfortable to hold and compact in the hand, its shiny surface makes it slightly slippery when combed with waxed hands. Unlike some hair dryers whose controls are flush with the handle, the T3 Fit's controls stick out slightly. While that doesn't make it as simple as some popular hair dryers we've tested, it does make the T3 Fit easy to control.

The most attractive features of the T3 Fit design are its size and weight, making it immediately appealing to those who want a hair dryer for travel or simply lack storage space at home. It's 20% lighter and 30% smaller than the full-size T3 AireLuxe, for example, but packed with equally impressive technology to style hair with impressive results.

At 400kg, the T3 Fit proves to be a great tool for those with long or thick hair that takes time to dry; this will limit any arm soreness you may experience with prolonged use, something hairdressers will tell you is a big mistake.

Note that the T3 Fit's head is shorter and thicker than the sleeker, full-size T3 AirLuxe hair dryer; in fact, the T3 Fit is surprisingly similar in size to the Dyson Supersonic. However, despite being lighter than the Dyson Supersonic, which weighs in at 660g, the T3 Fit isn't the lightest hair dryer on the market. For a lighter full-size hair dryer, check out the Parlux Digitalyon Light Air Ionizer.

Setting up the T3 Fit for use was simply a matter of plugging it in and going. Its 9-foot-long cord allowed us to move around freely, while the dryer's controls are conveniently located on the handle and click securely when pressed, with no chance of accidentally pressing settings during use. . The concentrator nozzle was a bit difficult to connect to the hair dryer head at first, but once we figured out how it connects, thanks to the alignment of the arrows, we were able to switch between the concentrator nozzle and the diffuser attachment with ease. .

T3 fit performance

The great thing about the T3 Fit is that despite its small size, it packs all the power and performance you'd expect from a full-size model. With 1600 watts and two speed settings and three heat settings, it's been designed to tackle a variety of hair types, from straight hair to hair with Type 4 curl patterns, thanks to gentle, even airflow and diffusion. .

It's the hair dryer's ion generator that saturates the airflow with negative ions to help reduce frizz and promote shine, while IonAir technology ensures hair dries quickly yet gently. After using the T3 Fit, we could definitely feel the benefits of its built-in technology over competing brands, which can often feel too fast and too hot.

Using the T3 to dry long, wavy, frizz-prone hair with even the slightest hint of outside moisture, we were impressed by how quickly it dried hair, in less than five minutes. We felt the benefits of this hair dryer's consistent airflow on both the speed setting and all three heat settings. In fact, even when we used the T3 Fit on its highest setting, the blow dryer never got too hot or blew too hard. The result was softer hair that had a less fluffy texture than when dried with other popular hair dryers.

We also used a large round brush to blow out our hair, and we liked that it made the hair look thick and heavy, with nice movement and shine. Results on shorter styles were equally impressive, with the T3 taking less than three minutes to completely dry shorter hair.

Keep in mind that while the hair dryer never got too hot, the cold one wasn't that cold either; we were expecting a much cooler breath of air than it delivered. Also, we noticed that when the cold shot was pressed, as it reduced the power and heat of the hair dryer, it took a little longer than we'd like to cool down.

Fortunately, the T3 Fit is reasonably quiet. We used a decibel meter app to measure noise levels, with 85dB at its highest setting and 77dB at its lowest setting. To put that in context, we've already tested much louder hair dryers that put out around 90 dB of noise. Since the T3 Fit doesn't get too hot or noisy, it's also a good choice for kids' hair, making it a good buy for the whole family.
