Grab Horizon Zero Dawn for Free on PS4 and PS5 Now
PlayStation gamers can buy Horizon Zero Dawn for free now, as part of Sony's latest Play at Home deal. The Complete Edition of Horizon Zero Dawn, which includes both the base game and the Frozen Wild DLC, is available as a completely free download for PS4 and PS5 players. Although the game is technically the PS4 version, with no next-gen updates available, PS5 players can still play the title thanks to backwards compatibility. This offer is only available for a limited time, on April 19 at 11:00pm EDT / 8:00pm PDT (or April 20 at 4:00am BST / 2:00pm AEST) May 14 at 11pm EDT / 8pm PDT (or May 15 at 4am BST / 2pm AEST). Now is a great time to jump into Horizon Zero Dawn, or revisit it, before Horizon Forbidden West launches later this year. It's also worth noting that time is running out to take advantage of Sony's other free game offerings. PlayStation gamers can still grab Abzu, Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, The Witness, as well as PSVR games Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Moss, Thumper, and Paper Beast until April 22 at 11 pm ET / 8 pm PT (or April 23 at 4 am BST / 2 pm AEST). While all of these games are PS4 versions, except for the PSVR titles, they are all playable on PS5 through backwards compatibility. Additionally, Funimation is now offering extended access to new subscribers to Funimation or Wakanim through April 22 (subject to country availability).

Sony previously launched the Play At Home initiative in April 2020, offering players PlayStation Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey for free. However, these deals only lasted until May. However, this time Sony said the offer would be even higher than before, with PlayStation boss Jim Ryan Ryan explaining that the return of the initiative will see Sony offering a number of free games and entertainment deals to the gaming community. PlayStation "to make the next few months a little more fun and enjoyable." "In those historic times, the PlayStation team wanted to thank the community by giving something back," Ryan wrote in a February PlayStation Blog post. "These days we could all use something to look forward to and one more reason to stay socially safe, so we're happy to offer a free selection of great games and entertainment offerings."

How do you claim the free games?

The nice thing about this deal is that you don't need to be a PlayStation Plus member to take advantage of the Play at Home program; it is available to anyone with a PSN account. (This is different from PS Plus monthly ``free'' games, which can only be accessed as long as you maintain your PS Plus membership.) That said, if you're a PlayStation Plus member with a PS5, you can access the PlayStation Plus Collection, which already has over a dozen PS4 classics for you to peruse. However, Horizon Zero Dawn isn't part of the mix, so this is a great opportunity to pick up one of the best games of the last generation.
