Did I just get Disney Plus? 5 things to know

Disney Plus landed in Australia and New Zealand, a week after its initial launch in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. The proposal is simple: listen to all the content of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar in one place (oh and National Geographic).

You've probably heard about the greatest hits, like 30 seasons of The Simpsons or Star Wars, The Mandalorian, but here are some other key points to keep in mind when diving into Disney Plus for the first time.

1. Most of the best originals are one year old or older.

Did you expect Marvel to have prepared a series of original shows for the launch? As for the really exciting exclusives, the Mandalorian will have to follow you for about a year. In fact, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel's first major live-action movie series, budgeted at € 25 million per episode, won't arrive until the end of the year. Next Year The most exciting thing you can expect is probably the seventh season of the animated series The Clone Wars, scheduled for February 2020.

2. Classic movies have DVD and Blu-Ray extras

When you select a movie, click on the "Extras" tab and you'll get deleted scenes, puzzled reels, and other fun items generally reserved for personal video outings. This isn't exhaustive - many Star Wars extras pulled from the DVD and Blu-ray versions aren't listed here, but that's one way for Disney to add an extra layer of value to their very own Service. You won't find these things on Netflix, for example.

3. The content library varies by region.

Infinity War arrives next year in the United States, but is already available in Australia.

All existing regions have won The Simpsons on day one, but the schedule varies wildly. This is because of the different distributors who have the right to show movies in all regions. Australia currently has Avengers: Infinity War, unlike the United States. In fact, Australia has many movies that the United States will not have until later. This is likely to become a big problem as Disney Plus is rolled out in more and more regions.

4. There are many hidden treasures here

From the Pixar shorts to the 1967 Disneyland Around the Seasons, where Walt himself talks about the new rides and attractions around the park, you don't have to look any further to find some movies and TV shows less obvious than Disney Plus. in the Demons offer, you can even watch Steamboat Willie from 1928 here. This means that Disney Plus is basically fulfilling its goal: to be a treasure.

5. You can request movies that are not yet on Disney Plus.

Maybe your favorite Disney movie or show is about the service, or maybe it will come later. But maybe you like a dark 90s show that shows no signs of Disney Plus involvement (for example, The Weekenders or Pepper Ann). Maybe you want to stream Futurama alongside the Simpsons without having a separate Hulu account.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Disney will add it, but there is an option to tell them what you want to see on the streamer. Click on "Profile" when connected to Disney Plus. A "Help" button is displayed. This takes you to a page where you can select "Request a movie or show" from a drop-down menu. You can then enter three different titles of your choice.
