It seems that images of the next Assassin's Creed game have been leaked

The beta version of one of the four new Ubisoft titles may have leaked, but nothing has been confirmed by the publisher yet.

Images of one of the games under the Assassin's Creed Infinity umbrella appear to have leaked on Reddit (opens in a new tab). Set in Imperial China, Codename Jade is an open-world mobile game, announced by Ubisoft in September 2022 along with three other titles: Red, Mirage, and Hexe.

Following the image leak, links to a beta registration surfaced online, but were not shared via any official Ubisoft channels.

Beta me than you

Before we get to the heart of the matter, it's important to say that the footage hasn't been confirmed as an Assassin's Creed gameplay. The Reddit user who shared the images says they are from the Jade beta, but the title of the beta on Facebook is Codename Explore.

As the only mobile game confirmed by Ubisoft as part of the Infinite announcement, Jade sets the stage for the Tang Dynasty era of Imperial China. In the official unveiling trailer (opens in a new tab), we get a glimpse of period-specific architecture, with on-screen text reading "Ancient China, 215 BC." while a bird flies around a great city of pergolas and fortified villages. The color scheme is similar to leaked images from Codename Explore (Opens in a new tab), showing two and a half minutes of gameplay and combat footage that seems to reflect Jade's world.

While Jade looks good, of the Assassin's Creed games revealed by Ubisoft in September, it's Hexe that intrigues me the most. In the very brief reveal trailer (opens in a new tab), all we can see is a peculiar talisman made of twigs, hanging in a dark forest. It gives off strong Blair Witch vibes, and a touch of pagan horror would certainly be a compelling departure from the hack n' slash styles of previous Assassin's Creed entries.

You can seek access to the Codename Explore beta, but we recommend that you wait until Ubisoft officially shares the registration details.
