Meta continues to improve parts of Facebook that have been in need of an update for some time, with groups getting a new sidebar to help users find their favorite groups more easily on iOS and Android.
The days of posting statuses that would start with "is" on Facebook are long gone, with a number of users viewing the social platform as a way to share memes, keep in touch with family, or simply be in groups to post and share content.
Meta is well aware of this and has recently taken steps to make admin rights more powerful to easily opt out of posts etc.
In this new update being tested (opens in a new tab) for a select group of users, you can participate in audio channels or channels on certain topics, similar to Slack, which could make it easier to manage a group on the future.
Analysis: Copying from other apps is nothing new
Some of these features copied from Slack make a lot of sense for Facebook groups.
We all know that a friend or family member spends all their time on the social network in certain groups, it can be the neighborhood or an upcoming event, for example. Still, it's easier than posting a status requesting something, like throwing a net into an ocean, hoping to catch a relevant comment.
These new features are intended to make it easier for these users, especially if they belong to more than five groups. As it stands, when you go to Facebook and select a group, it can be confusing to find the right post or start with the right topic.
It's another nice Meta move here in these new features. Hopefully, there's even more to this part of Facebook that can give members and admins even more power over what they share and how they can report abuse as well.
