WhatsApp tests self-destructing messages | The comparison

An unpublished version of WhatsApp includes a disappearing message option that allows users to send messages that self-destruct after a specified period of time.

WABetaInfo has noticed the addition in version 2.19.275 of the Android version of the WhatsApp application. Present in group chats, the Disappear messages option is not yet operational, but it will be possible to configure the deletion of messages after a period of five seconds to an hour, depending on the capture of the messages. screen shared by the site.

Although the expiring message option was seen in the group email, it would be strange if WhatsApp does not extend the functionality to individual chats.

WhatsApp would not be the first messaging tool to include such a feature. Telegram, Facebook Messenger and Signal, for example, already allow users to specify when messages should disappear.

This is the kind of option that can come in handy when you have to submit sensitive, confidential, or confidential information that you prefer not to spend more time than necessary on someone's discussion log.

For privacy enthusiasts who have turned to WhatsApp for the security of its end-to-end encryption, the feature simply cannot be added to the app soon enough. However, for the privacy and security of messages to be fully preserved, it should also be possible to block the copying or screenshot of discussions, and it is unclear whether this is intended.

It is not yet known when the disappearing messages will be broadcast at all, and WhatsApp is unlikely to set a particular date while perfecting the feature. WABetaInfo suggests that the function is only in alpha phase rather than beta, so it may take a little time before you see it in the final version of the application.
