Finally comes a fix for users where a bug was repeatedly showing stories viewed on Instagram, something that has reportedly been going on for a week so far.

While the update, called version 239.1 (opens in a new tab) simply says "The latest version contains bug fixes and performance improvements," we updated Instagram on our iPhone 13 Pro and can confirm that the bug has been fixed.

It was a rare glitch where you were scrolling through stories and all of a sudden you were looking at one that was 16 hours ago and like us you realized it had already been seen.

However, if you want to check if the patch is available for download, here's how to do it.

How to update your Instagram on iOS

Since this error only occurred on an iPhone, regardless of the iOS version, the solution is relatively easy to find and download, if available.

1. Open the App Store and go to the top right where your account profile picture is.

2. You will be redirected to your account page. If you scroll down from the top, you'll see the latest updates for all the apps installed on your iPhone, not just Instagram.

3. You can select "Update All" to download all updates or search Instagram to apply the patch.

4. Once installed, you will be able to scroll through Stories again without the same appearing.

Instagram says the fix is still rolling out to everyone on the App Store, so it may not have appeared yet. For now, the best thing to do is check for updates every few hours until they appear.
