Eight games will leave the Xbox subscription service on December 31, including one of the best games released in the last decade.
First-person sci-fi adventure Outer Wilds is among the names removed from Xbox Game Pass. It won numerous awards when it debuted in 2019, and in 2022 it was released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for next-gen gamers to try out.
Thankfully, you still have two weeks to play fast before Outer Wilds and seven others are decommissioned(opens in a new tab), making way for two Persona games and Monster Hunter Rise coming in the new year.

Outer Wilds is a time loop story set in a galaxy full of mystery. When you start the game, you only have 22 minutes to explore the solar system in your homemade spaceship before the sun goes supernova and wipes out all the planets from the sky. However, instead of being shrouded in space dust, time goes back and you are free to start your exploration again.
To unlock the mysteries of Outer Wilds you need to use your 22 minutes well, but your reward is a unique sci-fi game. The dense open-world format and immersive soundtrack provide a luxurious backdrop for your discoveries, so it's no surprise that Outer Wilds has won three BAFTAs in 2020 for Best Game, Best Intellectual Property, and Best Game Design. .
If space mysteries aren't your thing, check out Secret Neighbor for seasonal stealth multiplayer offerings. Set in the world of Hello Neighbor, this puzzle game pits you against your grumpy neighbor, Mr. Peterson, as you team up to rescue one of your friends from a shady basement; the problem, however, is that one of you is actually the bad guy. He thinks between us, only scarier.

Of course, it will be sad to see one of the most critically acclaimed sci-fi adventures say goodbye to us at the end of the month, but it's not all bad news. January promises a host of new games to jump into as we head into 2023; JRPG fans can take solace in Personal 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, due out on January 19.
We will also have Monster Hunter Rise launch on the service on January 20. So there are plenty of reasons to sign up for a Game Pass subscription if you haven't already.
