Truecaller adds features that include call reasons

The app that has been helping South Africans spot spammers for years is expanding to include three new features. Truecaller has made a name for itself by letting you see if an unknown number is a spam caller or a call center, so you can choose not to answer and ultimately avoid an awkward conversation with a business you're not interested in. Building on this success, app developers added call reason, text scheduler, and text translation features to give users more ways to stay on top of their calls and messages. The features are already available for Android and will roll out to iOS next year.

Reason for appeal

The reason for the call is the great new attraction and the most exciting of these features. The company said it was the most requested feature by users. Allows a Caller ID extension to include a reason the person is calling, so you'll be ready when you decide to pick up the phone. Unlike the caller ID aspect, however, callers must enter the reason instead of this automatic process. Businesses can also set up custom text messages before each call, which Truecaller says would improve call engagement, as many people don't like answering numbers without knowing what the purpose of the call might be.

Plan your SMS

This feature is quite simple, now users can schedule SMS sending in the future. Currently only available for Android, it's a great tool for businesses to automate their communication with customers.

Translate SMS

In a country with multiple languages, this function will be useful. The app detects a different language on the message screen and will offer you a translation if you want it. It is powered by Google and therefore all the languages offered by this service are available. All of this is handled on the phone so that message content is always protected and never leaves your phone. The language pack used for the translation is downloaded to your device.
