The Shockwave Hammer proves that Fortnite has gone too far

Fornite had to take a short break when developer Epic Games fixed the destructive issues caused by the new weapon; the shock wave hammer.

Released last month, the Shockwave Hammer came with Fortnite's Chapter Four redesign. Unfortunately, pretty much as soon as it was released, players started using it for evil. A glitch left players using the hammer to bounce across the map, traversing long distances considerably faster than Epic intended, leaving only destruction in their wake.

In a post (opens in a new tab), Reddit user SpenzerReadsAlot claimed that airborne opponents who generally have low mobility "can quickly return to shockwave midair to flip around and hit you with she". This strange ability meant that the only way to hit someone with a hammer was to use a hammer.

Even Epic realized things had gotten out of hand, taking Fortnite offline to update the game with an urgent patch:

We will be experiencing a brief downtime starting at 6am ET to incorporate a hotfix that addresses multiple issues, including the Shockwave Hammer bouncing more frequently than anticipated. Downtime should last for about an hour. pic.twitter.com/8aF9BWImkyJanuary 2023, XNUMX

Looks like Epic is fighting with a lot of layered abilities and items, he triggered the dome system, allowing him to automatically jump over low objects; He had his Deku Smash ability removed and Aerialist's augment ability disabled.

I haven't played Fortnite since XNUMX, but hearing all the hiccups and protests about overpowered weapons and world-shattering anime power moves doesn't make me want to play again.

I enjoyed Fortnite when it was just you and your friends against about ninety random people who wanted you dead. While construction is a new aspect, I enjoyed getting familiar with the mechanics as it helped make the fights more active and exciting.

Now when I look at squads full of Ariana Grande, Deku, and other incompatible characters, I don't know what Fortnite is. Is it some kind of multiverse RPG? Why do certain characters get Doomsday Singular Abilities and others don't? The whole thing seems so disorganized to me.

I'm happy for those who appreciate the wide range of characters and abilities, but the destructive nature of the Shockwave Hammer has cemented the feeling that Fortnite is too busy for me. It's probably better to stick with the games I know, like CoD Remaster: Modern Warfare II or Rainbow Six Siege.
