Overwatch 2's new character won't have a public test

Blizzard will no longer be holding public tests for Overwatch 2, so fans will have to wait for its October release to see the game's latest new hero.

Two Overwatch 2 beta tests were held earlier this year, allowing players to try out Overwatch 2's new Push game mode and the 5v5 overhaul. But it will be a few more months before fans can return, with Overwatch VP and Chief Commercial Officer Jon Spector announcing the end of the beta calendar.

"Today marks just two months since Overwatch 2 launched," Spector said in a tweet (opens in a new tab). "We know players are eager to dive in and have seen questions about the possibility of a third public beta. While we continue to test OW2 internally on a daily basis, we are not planning any additional public betas."

"With all the valuable feedback we received from our alpha tests and our two public beta tests, we will focus our efforts on releasing the best possible game on October 4."

A colorful cast that grows fast.

Blizzard has also confirmed that he will be a support hero and will be available to play from day one. His name or the abilities they offer remain a mystery.

Each update will introduce new cosmetics and playable content, including maps and heroes. So far, we know that the first three seasons, which will last until February of next year, will each introduce a new hero.
