The next batch of monthly PS Plus Essential games have been revealed, and there's one title in particular that will be of interest to subscribers.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be available to PS Plus members in August. That's according to Dealabs user billbil-kun (opens in a new tab), who regularly and successfully filters the subscription platform's monthly free games.
The 2020 version is arguably one of the best JRPGs in recent years and a standout installment in the entire series. Swapping classic Yakuza combat for a turn-based system, it has all the hallmarks of a great RPG. Expect memorable side quests, great writing, and a sprawling world to explore.
Like a Dragon is also a fantastic route into the series if you're totally new to Yakuza. Set in a different city than its predecessors with a new cast of characters, you don't need to know anything about the 15-year-old series to get started. It will save you time discussing how to play Yakuza games. so you know where to start.

He will be joined by 1's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2+2020, a remaster of the first two titles in the skate series. In our review, we said it's a "perfectly executed remake" that "hits all the areas fans of the original would expect and sweetens the deal by adding all the modern necessities we demand from today's video games."
The 2017 horror platformer Little Nightmares rounds out the August free games bundle. It puts you in the small shoes of a miniature character to escape from a series of twisted nightmares and whimsical puzzles.
If you're a PS Plus subscriber, you'll be able to claim all three games from August 2 through September 6. As usual, if you collect them on time, you can keep playing for the duration of your PS Plus subscription. They are also available to PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, but will not be added to the top-tier DOL library.
If you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, don't worry. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is out on the Microsoft platform now, along with most of the other games in the series, including Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami.
