Oppo F17 series: release date, price and leaks
Amid a busy smartphone launch season, Oppo is looking to refresh its popular F Series in India with the launch of the F17 and F17 Pro in the coming days. This time, the focus is on the design and the cameras. The Oppo F17 series will make its global debut in India in early September. The teasers are already live, confirming the existence of six cameras between the front and the back, as well as a new design. Oppo claims it will be the "most stylish phone of 2020". As always, Oppo is hoping to claim part of the mid-range with phones priced around Rs 25.000. Here is everything we know about the Oppo F17 series. Most of the specs mentioned in this article are leaks from Twitter tipsters like Abhishek Yadav and Ishan Agarwal.

Come to the point

Oppo F17 series price and release date

Oppo has yet to announce a release date for the F17 series, but considering the speed of progress, we don't think it's too far away. The first week of September is most likely at this time. There will be two models in the series – the F17 and the F17 Pro. No pricing indication has been made yet, but we expect them to be in the lower Rs 25.000 segment.

Design and display

For the F17 series, Oppo embraces a new design language that includes a two-tone finish on the back that ties in with the camera array. There will be four cameras on the back, placed in a symmetrical 2x2 formation in a square casing. The front cameras will be hidden in the upper left corner of the screen in a punch hole. As for the screen itself, we should consider a Full HD+ super AMOLED panel that stretches out to around 6,43 inches (F17 Pro). It would be nice to have a high refresh rate panel, but it seems unlikely at the moment. But since the very affordable Oppo A53 also has a 90Hz screen, we can be optimistic. The Oppo F17 series will come with black, blue, white, orange, and gray color options. The F17 Pro will be just 7,48mm thick and weigh 164 grams, which is officially confirmed by Oppo itself.

Unlimited

The Oppo F17 Pro will most likely come with a MediaTek chipset. It is rumored to come with a MediaTek Helio P95 SoC, which is present in the Oppo Reno 3 Pro. However, we would like the device to be powered by a Snapdragon chipset because it is superior and offers better performance. We weren't too impressed with the performance of the Reno 3 Pro chipset either. Furthermore, the device is expected to come with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for memory expansion. We can also expect the device to be available in a 6 + 64 GB option. The non-Pro variant might go for a slightly different package here.

Cameras

The Oppo F17 series will come with "six AI portrait cameras." The quad-camera array on the back consists of a 48 MP main shooter, followed by an ultra-wide lens, a depth sensor, and an unspecified fourth camera. On the front, the short teaser video revealed the presence of dual hole-punch cameras. Leaks suggest that the Oppo F17 Pro will come with a 16MP main shooter, as well as a depth sensor for portraits. We can expect plenty of shooting modes suitable for selfies and portraits to make the cut.

battery and charging

Inside, the Oppo F17 Pro is said to contain a 4.000mAh battery, which is pretty standard for a modern mid-range device. And the charge will be compatible with Oppo's Vooc flash charge with an output power of 30W. The non-Pro F17 is also likely to have a similar battery capacity, but with charge speeds of 20 / 18W. Both devices most likely have a Type-C interface for charging.

All the rest

In addition to the specifications mentioned above, the Oppo F17 series is expected to come preloaded with ColorOS 7.2 in addition to Android 10 with a ton of customizations, including system-wide dark mode. The skin is known to make many important additions to the system.
