Planning to buy or renew a PlayStation Plus subscription this Prime Day? Well, no.

Let's put aside the fact that this year's PS Plus Prime Day deals are more than disappointing; Even if they weren't, I'd offer you the same advice. Prime Day isn't the best time to buy or renew PS Plus if you want a decent discount, especially if you want to save for years to come.

Instead, I'd highly recommend waiting until Black Friday 2022 to grab a substantial PS Plus deal; this is the reason.

First, let's take a look at the extremely rare deals that are currently available on Amazon for PS Plus. As far as I can see there is only one discount (if you can even call it that) in the UK and one in the US.

In the US, you can save 10% on 12 months of PS Plus, and in the UK, you can literally save pennies on a three-month subscription. (Not in the UK or US? Scroll down for deals in your area.) These aren't necessarily Prime Day deals per se, but even if we look at third-party retailers like CD Keys, there aren't many discounts available right now.

You can check out the Amazon deals below, though you'd be wasting your time:

So when should I renew?

Black Friday is the perfect time to renew PS Plus or get it for the first time. You'll find other discounts throughout the year, sometimes at prices as competitive as during the Black Friday period (the same day is November 25 this year), but Black Friday is the only time you can really guarantee that the price will go down. a number of retailers.

Last year, for example, we saw a 12-month PS Plus subscription drop to just £29.95 on ShopTo in the UK and just £36.99 on CD Keys in the US.

The best part about renewing or signing up for a 12-month PS Plus subscription during this time is that when you need to renew next year, it'll be Black Friday again, so you'll get a discount again. It's a great strategy. You can even stack subscriptions, so you can buy multiple years of subscriptions at a discount if you're worried the price won't be that low.

Même si vous êtes au point critique où votre abonnement doit expirer avant le Black Friday, je vous conseille de souscrire un abonnement de trois mois moins cher pour vous aider jusque-là (see our page d'offres PS Plus les moins chères pour en savoir Plus).

However, during the sale period itself, I would highly recommend getting a 12-month subscription rather than a three-month one, as I've found it to be the best value for money. Also, if you buy a three-month subscription during Black Friday, it will expire at the end of February 2022, when there are usually no sales.

How will the PS Plus redesign affect deals?

Excellent question. We're not entirely sure yet, but given that what used to be the standard PS Plus subscription is now the Essential tier, we imagine that at least that tier will continue to receive discounts.

But we hope that the new Extra and Premium levels, which are more expensive than the regular subscription, will also get a discount.

The redesign, however, reinforces the argument that it's wise to wait until Black Friday to grab a good PS Plus deal. As revamping finds its place and new games are gradually added to the tiered libraries, it's certainly worth waiting until November to see which tier appeals to you.

Are you satisfied with your current PS Plus offer? So it may be better to stick with the Essential level. Do you want to play a catalog of PS4 and PS5 games? So maybe consider Extra. Want access to all of this, plus retro PlayStation games? Then Premium could be for you.

Essentially, there is nothing wrong with waiting to see how things go and then deciding which option is best for you.
