LG C1 OLED vs LG G1 OLED: what is the difference?

LG C1 OLED vs LG G1 OLED: what is the difference? The LG C1 OLED and LG G1 OLED are expected to be two of the best options for an OLED TV in 2021. Building on the overwhelming success of last year's CX OLED and the introduction of the Gallery OLED series, plus design, there's little reason to believe these new models will do anything but improve on the old ones. The LG C1 and LG G1 are 4K TVs with OLED panels, they support Dolby Vision HDR and they come with latest version of LG's webOS smart platform, an excellent starting point for any television of the brand. However, if you are trying to choose from LG's best 4K OLEDsThere are a few key differences to consider, including price, with the LG G1 seeing a sharp rise in cost based on the US pricing we've seen so far. But does the Gallery OLED series really offer much more than the LG C1, and does its new "OLED evo" technology really make a big difference to overall image quality? We'll dive into everything you need to know below.

LG C1 vs LG G1: Prices and sizes

Of course, you have to be in a favorable economic situation to be able to choose preferably. The LG G1 OLED is a very expensive TV, although the US price we have so far is not as high as expected. For the LG G1 we find it at $2,199 (around €1,600 / AU$2,900), the 55-inch model (OLED55G1PUA) available in April at $2,999 (around €2,100 / AU$3,800), the 65-inch OLED1G65PUA Available from the end of March. Lastly, a 77-inch model available since March also sells for $4,499 (around €3,300 / AU€5,900). Surprisingly, this year's model is considerably cheaper: the 65-inch GX sold for no more than €3,499 / €3,199 / AU$5,999, so we're looking at a 15% drop in RRP for the same size G1. However, the LG C1 OLED is even cheaper, which is the launch price of the various sizes of the LG CX last year. It starts at €1,499 for a 48-inch size, and we'd expect to see a similar price of €1,499 in the UK or AU$2,800 in Australia. The 55-inch model is €1,799, the 65-inch is €2,499, and the 77-inch is €3,799. This is only confirmed for the LG C1, so anyone looking for a truly massive 4K OLED should go for the C-series.

LG C1 vs LG G1: OLED evo explained

This is probably the most important distinction to understand as it is new for 2021.. The OLED series of LG G1 Gallery series will feature "OLED evo" panel technology to help improve brightness, one of the rare weaknesses of OLED TVs. LG isn't the only TV brand responding to the need for improvement in this area, either. Sony hopes that its Cognitive XR processor can increase the brightness of its OLED screens, while Samsung's new TVs continually display thousands of nits of brightness thanks to their competitive QLED technology.

LG C1 vs LG G1: Design and specifications

One of the big differences is how you will end up mounting these TVs. The LG C1 comes with a central TV stand, but it can also be wall mounted. The LG G1 is explicitly designed for through-the-wall mounting, with a slim design designed to sit against a wall. Starting in 2021, a new Gallery Stand tripod option will be available if you don't have wall or counter space at hand, you have this option available that can be used for both 55" and 65" sizes for both sets. The LG C1 and LG G1 share many of the same specifications, including this year's AI a9 Gen 4 processor. LG says its new chip will use deep learning to better analyze discrete objects on the screen, meaning people, backgrounds, and sections of text are correctly distinguished from one another. Both sets will include four HDMI 2.1 ports., like last year's models, so you will get 4K/120Hz support for optimal settings on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It is also compatible with HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. LG has been actively courting gamers for the past several years, and benefits can be seen in the adoption of VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), as well as Nvidia G-Sync and FreeSync for those who want to reduce screen tearing when connecting a gaming PC. Both teams have an acceptable 40W of integrated audio in a 2.2-channel audio system with Dolby Atmos. We found that last year's models weighed in a bit on the bass, and those looking for a better audio experience should probably opt for a separate soundbar, but that's at least a good place to start. LG C1 vs LG G1: conclusion

While the LG CX and LG GX were a bit difficult to differentiate, with almost the same specs and sizes, their 2021 successors only created a larger gap between the C-series and the G-series. The LG G1's OLED evo technology makes it the preferred choice for a high-end LG OLED TV., which increases brightness compared to the C1, or looks great when flush-mounted into a wall. However, the G1 is a bit more limited in size for those who dream of a 48-inch OLED TV or, at the other end of the spectrum, an 83-inch OLED LG C1 will be your best bet. Let's not forget that it will cost about half the amount for the same size options.
