Black Friday 2022 sales are underway. The day doesn't come until November 25, but we've already seen plenty of discounts so far, and our live Black Friday blog is the best place to follow the latest and biggest deals as they happen.

While most retailers are slashing the price on an immeasurable number of products, the world's top streaming services tend to shy away from offering Black Friday deals to potential customers.

Well, for the most part. There's always one big streamer that gets a big annual price drop: Hulu, and that's still the case in 2022. Right now, customers can buy a 12-month ad-based Hulu subscription for just $1.99 per month ( opens in a new tab) – an offer that represents a significant saving of 75% on its usual price of €7,99. The offer is only available until Monday, November 28, so act now or you'll miss out.

Hulu is facing competition from other streamers in Black Friday sales this year, with HBO Max leading the way with its own 80% Black Friday deal. While that sounds incredibly appealing, it's Hulu's Black Friday deal that I'll be buying, and here's why.

For starters, Hulu's back catalog is surprisingly fantastic. There are a number of great shows to watch, spanning a wide range of genres for fans of all stripes to find something worth watching.

In the last two years alone, some of the best Hulu shows of all time have aired on the platform. Just Murders in the Building, Ramy, The Bear, Pam & Tommy, PEN15, and Reservation Dogs are just six examples of the high-quality entertainment available on Hulu, offerings that have also been consistently nominated on the awards circuit. In the US, these TV series are only available on Hulu (they stream on Disney Plus in the UK). So you'll need a Hulu subscription if you want to watch these top shows from one side of the Atlantic. at least.

There are also plenty of great Hulu movies to watch. From Palm Springs and Run to Prey and Fresh, Hulu spans the gamut of genres to offer a great set of the best Hulu movies.

In addition to its original content, a Hulu subscription offers other benefits as well. Earning money gives you the chance to try HBO Max, Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming platform, free for a week.

When signing up for a Hulu subscription, you can select an add-on to get a free seven-day trial of HBO Max. Even with HBO Max's Black Friday sale, the Hulu add-on represents great value for money because it's the only way to try HBO Max for free and catch up on House of the Dragon and The Batman. Not bad, huh?

Also, Hulu is one of the cheapest streaming options around, and that was before their Black Friday sale was revealed.

Hulu is typically the second cheapest streamer, with its ad-based subscription costing just $7.99 per month. That means Hulu is second only to Apple TV Plus ($4.99 per month) when it comes to buying a subscription in the US. Other alternatives, like Netflix ($9.99 per month), HBO Max ($9.99), and Prime Video (€8.99) may have larger libraries. But, when it comes to saving money on a streaming subscription, Hulu is there even when the Black Friday sales aren't happening.

Admittedly, Hulu's Black Friday deal for 2022 isn't quite as good as its predecessor. Last year, a 12-month Hulu subscription could be purchased for less than €12, or €0,99 per month. Still, signing up for this year's €1.99 per month deal is amazing value for money, with potential customers saving €72 if they do.

In a year where the cost-of-living crisis has seen everyday prices skyrocket, and people subsequently cancel their subscriptions to the streaming service, this Hulu Black Friday deal is worth considering. Of course, the HBO Max deal is just as tempting, but that $1.99-per-month deal expires after three months, while Hulu's lasts all year. For those looking to save as much money as possible with a streaming subscription, Hulu wins hands down, which is why, more than anything, I'll be buying one this Black Friday.
