Halo Infinite updates have been pouring in since the release of Halo Infinite Season 2, and we can't wait to see what kind of changes 343 brings to its sci-fi shooter.

Halo Infinite Season 1 debuted as a beta on November 15 last year, and since then we've seen Microsoft release Halo Infinite update after Halo Infinite update. Although the first season lasted longer than expected, 343 Industries delayed the release date of Halo Infinite Season 2 until they fixed bugs in the base game, the second season of the game was finally released, which was released on May 3.

Halo Infinite Season 2 brought new maps, new modes, and tons of new content to the Halo Infinite Battle Pass.

Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone set the standard for battle passes, but 343 stumbled upon Halo Infinite Battle Pass in Season 1, which required players to earn too much experience to unlock new gear and also flooded the game with content from limited time that required players to invest a lot of time in multiplayer to unlock the skins or miss them forever.

343 listened, though, and made adjustments throughout Halo Infinite Season 1 and now in Halo Infinite Season 2, a lot has been fixed.

So if you're planning to dive into Halo Infinite Season 2, here's everything we know so far.

Halo Infinite Season 2 was released on May 3, 2022 and is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The official name and theme of the season is "Lone Wolves". Season 1 ended on May 2 after a long six-month stretch, and Season 2 lasts for a similar stretch. We originally thought Season 2 would be shorter, but according to 343 Industries it will last until November 8, 2022.

Season 1 was 343's first attempt at implementing a live service experience, trying to compete with other mainstream FPS games. Unfortunately, that backfired and 343 Industries fixed the shortcomings of Halo Infinite Season 1 in their March update (opens in a new tab), where they also reassessed Battle Pass progression (opens in a new tab). Previously, XP was not awarded based on performance in games, and challenges were poorly worded, leaving players unsure how to earn XP.

The first trailer for Halo Infinite Season 2 dropped in April. At just 26 seconds long, we didn't get much, though what we did see briefly was illuminating. New maps, new characters, and a new armor core have been seen here.

A second Halo Infinite Season 2 launch trailer surfaced on launch day. Running for almost two minutes, it gave us a much better look at new maps, modes, themed limited-time events, and a new Battle Pass.

We haven't received an official Battle Pass trailer for Season 2, but if you're looking to see more, 343 Industries has you covered. He posted a community live video, showing the full Season 2 Battle Pass and the Battle Pass Changer menu. You can watch the video below (update to 8.10):

You can read more about Halo Infinite's new modes in detail in a section below, but if you want to see them in action, here's the trailer showcasing Last Spartan Standing, King of the Hill, and Land Grab:

There are two new maps in Halo Infinite Season 2, Catalyst and Breaker, and you can read more about them in an upcoming section. However, as a little sneak peek, you should check out the new map trailer:

Finally, we have a trailer for the current Fracture event, Entrenched. We've got details below on exactly how it works, but for now, watch the launch trailer:

Catalyst is the new Arena map, providing a Forerunner facility reclaimed by nature. You have relatively small team bases that are 343 spread out from the center of the map, as well as a fairly compact layout.

The Halo Infinite update also added Breaker, a new Big Team Battle map. Located around a banished ship breaking facility in a sandy area. Unsurprisingly, given the type of map, it's huge and there's no end of terrain to climb. Just watch out for the giant laser in the central chasm, there's no survivor of that thing.

Halo Infinite Season 2 also adds a stack of new modes, there are three new additions in total. The first is Last Spartan Standing, a free-to-play experience for 12 players that features a limited loadout and only five respawns. Once you run out of respawns, you're out of the game. This is only available in Breaker during the Interference and Alpha Pack events, but beyond that you will have a separate playlist.

King of the Hill is our second choice, available in Ranked Arena, Quick Play, Bot Bootcamp, a dedicated King of the Hill playlist, and custom matches. If you play ranked it will follow a strict sequence of where it spawns on each map, but otherwise unranked matches will randomize hill locations.

The final new mode after the Halo Infinite update is Land Grab, which ties into Season 2's Entrenched, the Fracture event. This one sees three Neutral Zones spawn on a map, and you'll need to capture as many as possible to earn points. If a team takes all three areas, a new set is spawned in another location.

Beyond that, 343 Industries has confirmed that there are also plenty more experimental Halo Infinite modes and rotating playlists (opens in a new tab), including two Slayer variants. Ninja Slayer gives you an infinite ammo energy sword and grappling hook charge, while Rocket Repulsors take a similar approach but with rocket launchers and repulsors. Finally, Vampireball is Oddball, but the skull allows for a one hit kill, which also gives you a 50% shield boost.

Halo Infinite Update: Event Details

So far, 343 Industries has outlined two Lone Wolves story events for Halo Infinite Season 2, and there's a 10-item Event Pass with new rewards.

Unfortunately, the first event, Interference, is now gone, and was available from May 3 to May 16. Fear not if you missed it, there's still the Alpha Pack, which will be available from July 19th to August 1st. During these events, players can complete event challenges, including confirmed rank 343 between completing matches and performing certain actions.

Both Halo Infinite events use a single map and mode combination, which is Last Spartan Standing on the Big Team Battle map, Breaker. Just note that both LSS and Breaker are inaccessible in general matchmaking or custom playlists during these events. You also can't complete challenges on playlists without events or custom games.

Finally, Halo Infinite Season 2 brings a new Fracture event, Entrenched, but don't expect any new narrative cutscenes here. Playing the new Land Grab mode, there are up to 30 free customization items available. Like the others, expect to find event challenges, and there's an "EAGLESTRIK" armor core to earn.

Entrenched takes place six times during Season 2, with the first event already taking place between May 24 and 30. Right now, we only know of three upcoming event windows, and you don't have long to wait for the next one. These are:

It wouldn't be a live service game without a new Battle Pass, and that's exactly what Halo Infinite Season 2 brings.

Introducing a new 100 Tier Battle Pass, there are up to 180 rewards available. This time, there is a Rakshasa Armor Core up for grabs, along with the armor for the Mark VII Armor Core. However, you will need a Halo Infinite Season 2 Premium Pass to get all of these rewards, and it will also earn you up to 1,000 CR, which can be used in the Item Shop or towards the next pass.

Regular Halo Infinite players will find a new set of Ultimate Rewards, which unlock visors and shaders after completing all of the weekly challenges. Additionally, this new Battle Pass introduces a new story scene, which is visible when first accessing the Season 2 menu.

Uniquely, Halo Infinite also features a redeemable battle pass system. If you haven't yet completed the Halo Infinite Season 1 Heroes of Reach Premium Battle Pass, you can re-equip it, which disables lone wolf progression until you return, and progress through all tiers previously locked during Season 2. from HaloInfinite. you haven't purchased Heroes of Reach, which is still available in the Shop menu, meaning you won't miss out on any season-exclusive items.
