As part of this year's Prime Day deals, prices for many great Star Wars video games have been slashed to all-time lows. Today is definitely a good day to be a fan of the galaxy far and wide, and we've rounded up some of the Star Wars game deals below.
But it's not a video game that excited me the most. There have been plenty of brilliant Star Wars board games released over the years, and one, in particular, has gone down to such a low price on Amazon that even the most die-hard smugglers in the galaxy won't be able to resist.
The best Star Wars game deal on Prime Day
Star Wars: Unlock is the game any budding Jedi or budding Imperial stormtrooper should have their eyes on. A spin-off on the Star Wars theme of the main series Unlock, it is essentially a room of evasion in a boîte that you met with your défi, you and your friends, to finish a series of puzzles against the Clock. The game is remarkably simple, using just a deck of cards and a companion phone app. You'll scour location maps for clues, piece together subtle clues, combine maps to unlock new areas, and rack your brain to solve all sorts of puzzles and obstacles.
Although the game only uses a small number of components, it does a wonderful job of simulating an escape room experience. You will advance to new areas, take equipment with you to new rooms, and must muster the collective genius of your group if you are to escape your predicament within the 60-minute time limit.
It's the perfect game to play with family and friends, encouraging them to work together and adding just enough challenge to threaten their friendships. Plus, it takes virtually no time to figure out, with its super concise one page rulebook.
All of Unlock's games build brilliantly on their themes, and this edition of Star Wars is no different. It includes three "adventures", each gradually increasing in difficulty. An unforeseen delay will have you escaping from the holding cells of a Star Destroyer, Escape From Hoth will send you into the thick of battle on the titular planet's Rebel base, while Secret Mission on Jedha will let you recover an ancient artifact.
It should be noted that all three quests cannot be modified. Once you've played them, you won't have to mix or change their puzzles. You will have to forget about their solutions if you want to experience them again. But that's not a problem: I have repeatedly played several Unlock games, and I barely remember its puzzles under the stress of each game.
The game is also completely reusable. Unlike the popular Exit series of board games, Unlock doesn't require you to scratch, tear, or mark its components in any way, so you can return to them again and again.
But even if you only play each adventure once, you'll still have a good time. Star Wars: Unlock may not be the most popular board game adaptation of George Lucas's beloved universe, but it certainly deserves a place on your bookshelf.
