This Elder Scrolls game is over a decade old

You don't need to spend a lot of money on a brand new game when there are great community mods out there.

Released in 2011, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is still one of the best RPGs of all time to this day. It has all the basic trappings of a fantasy epic: colossal dragons, skilled bullies, and plenty of screaming. But even though Skyrim is over ten years old, there's still new life to give it.

Warden Of The Coast is a massive DLC-sized creation from modder TheBawb, adding up to 15 hours of new quests, voice lines, companions, and five possible endings to one of Bethesda's most beloved games.

Oh, and it's free.

TheBawb has equipped his Warden Of The Coast mod with everything you need to take the Dovah-Kiin on a whole new adventure. At just 2,5 GB, you get a lot of content in a relatively small space, especially considering how detailed this mod appears to be.

In the Warden of the Coast mods list (opens in a new tab), TheBawb says that it is "heavily inspired by the gameplay of Mass Effect and Dragon Age." Your mission is to stop the return of a malevolent Daedric Lord with the help of your nine playmates. Each companion has their own unique questline to help build loyalty, which should come in handy given the "three companion tracking system." .

You will be able to check your progress with each partner through TheBawb's partner respect system. It will update through dialogue, kills, and mission selections to give you a clear idea of where you stand relative to your teammates.

They seem to be fully interactive members of your party, as you can revive them during combat and even upgrade them once your ratio is high enough.

Along with 9,000 new lines of dialogue shared between 27 voice actors, you'll be in love and fighting through new love stories, and you may even marry the boyfriend of your choice in an upcoming patch. Also, the five possible outcomes will depend on the choices you make in the game, leaving plenty of room for replayability.

Story aside, Warden Of The Coat introduces two new world spaces and 19 new interiors, giving it a new look and feel that will shake up the world of Skyrim as you know it.

All you need to play Warden Of The Coast is your PC and a copy of Skyrim. It doesn't use any unique assets from the special editions of the game, so you should have no problem running it with the standard version.

As one of the most modded games of all time, the Skyrim community has a lot to look forward to if talented modders continue to work for upcoming Bethesda games like Starfield.
