Camtasia 2022 is out now, and developer TechSmith has added a number of creative features to the popular video recording and editing software.
The tool, which tops our list of the best screen recorders, has a number of new additions. The creators of Camtasia say that they are "designed to help customers tell a compelling story with the mouse cursor and easily add visual effects and processing that make videos more engaging."
Highlights include cursor improvements, new transitions, transcription tools, templates, video effects, and a simplified export process when recording your screen on Windows.
What's new at Camtasia 2022?
Cursor enhancements top the list of updates TechSmith is rolling out. Users will now be able to edit and add cursor paths after saving and override the OS default cursor.
In an effort to help users "create more professional and visually appealing videos in even less time," Camtasia's workflows have also been refined. In addition to streamlined exports, the screen recording software now boasts a revamped library that houses over 1000 templates and customizable elements, including music tracks and animated titles.
The Audiate integration deserves a special mention as it makes videos more accessible to a larger audience. Audiate is TechSmith's audio editor, which automatically transcribes videos into editable text. Camtasia users can now easily transfer recordings between the two tools and apply edited transcripts to their timeline.
On the video effects side, TechSmith introduced 30 new transitions, as well as Spotlight and Outline Edge effects to grab the audience's attention or make videos look like cartoons. Meanwhile, the new blend mode allows users to blend images from two types of media to create high-quality cinematic effects.
