Phishing is the biggest threat to business security

A security service developed by the telecommunications company Telefónica, in collaboration with McAfee and Allot, revealed that most of the threats (89%) that it had blocked so far were related to phishing.

During the first two months of its implementation, the security service also discovered that a new threat was created every six seconds and that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were targeted by cybercriminals because they used generally lower levels of protection.

Telefónica has designed its Business Secure Connection (secure connection for companies) in a scalable way so that smaller companies can enjoy the same level of protection as that implemented in large companies.

The service is installed in the heart of the telecommunications network, where it analyzes all the data that comes from its subscribers and removes any malicious content.

Protecting SMEs

In addition to filtering out all that is malicious, Telefónica's service also prevents users from viewing websites classified as risky or inappropriate due to their content, allowing companies to avoid identity theft. Identity, fraud and data theft as a result of scams.

The security service can even protect employees' fixed and mobile devices if they are lost or stolen while connected outside of a corporate network, according to telecommunications.

Jesús Sánchez-Aguilera, EMEA Consumer and SME Manager for McAfee, provided more details on the security company's collaboration with Telefónica, stating:

"Our partnership with Telefónica and Allot has been effective in protecting businesses of all sizes. We believe that collaboration leads to the innovation of the best cybersecurity solutions. By working together, we provide solutions to help companies protect what it matters, like customer data and intellectual property, regardless of the devices they use or the scale of their operations. "

Now that Telefónica has successfully implemented a security service to protect SMEs, expect other telecommunications to do the same when trying to protect their customers from phishing and other cyber threats that could cripple their customers. activities.
