The next Knives Out movie now has a name, a cast, a destination (Netflix needs it), and not much else.

If you loved the twists and turns of Rian Johnson's original murder-mystery thriller Knives Out, you'll be almost as surprised by the trailer for the sequel, which Netflix posted on Twitter.

The brief announcement reveals a title: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which could be a reference to a monocle, which investigative hero Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, doesn't wear, or the classic Beatles song.

If it's the latter, then it'll be another "nothing is what it seems" mystery, as the Glass Onion song referenced peeling back layer after layer of a semi-translucent onion only to find that you could see right through it all the way through, in other words, don't analyze too much, don't think too much.

This title confirms that this is just one of at least two sequels, and that we could be in a long line of future "Knives Out Mysteries."

The mystery has just begun. Benoit Blanc returns in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Coming this holiday season on Netflix. June 13, 2022

The 18-second trailer does not include any video footage, just a list of actors. Still, it's quite a start, confirming most of the names we already knew. In addition to Craig's return, the main roster includes Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline and Dave Bautista.

Although no release date is being offered, we have "This Holiday Season," which means we can expect the thriller to arrive on Netflix, at least for US viewers, between mid-October and early January.

The original Knives Out was a low-budget (€18 million) and unexpected (earning €310 million worldwide) monster hit, but expectations for the sequel are much higher. Also, Netflix, which has had a pretty terrible 2022, could have a big hit in helping to keep the momentum going after Stranger Things season 4 wraps up in July.
