If you've already subscribed to the new Disney Plus streaming service, you may have noticed that previous episodes of The Simpsons have the wrong aspect ratio. Disney now says a fix is on the way, but that it won't happen until next year.
It's not that the episodes are impregnable, but forcing the modern 16:9 widescreen look on the classic 4:3 seasons of the series means that part of the photo is being cut off - and that ruins beautiful visual jokes.
"We presented The Simpsons in 16: 9 format at launch to ensure visual quality and consistency across all 30 seasons," Disney said in a statement, quoted by The Verge. "Over time, Disney Plus will roll out new features and other display options."
So, in early 2020, Disney Plus will stream the first 19 seasons (and some episodes of Season 20) of The Simpsons in their original 4: 3 picture format, giving subscribers the option of how they prefer to watch the popular series. " .
