The Cyberpunk 2077 trailer: Phantom Liberty arrives with an unexpected guest

I guess it's time to head back to Night City for round two; this time, Solomon Reed is in the game.

The exciting news of Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Phantom Liberty has been announced at The Game Awards. Fortunately, we should be able to get our hands on it in 2023. But that was not the only surprise that fans saw.

Recently, Cyberpunk has rallied like a phoenix. After a hit Netflix show and plenty of great patches, the mess of glitches we all knew when it launched seems like a distant memory. Watching the trailer, it feels like we're back in the same dark, dark, bloody city we all know and love.

Hopefully, that memory remains just that, a memory, because the Phantom Liberty trailer looks too good to fail. The sharp quality, the gruesome fight scenes, and the dirty sidewalks wet with rain and blood are exciting enough on their own. But there is one more card up CD Projeckt RED's sleeve.

There's the obvious appearance of our beloved Jonny Silverhands, played by the ever-charismatic Keanu Reeves, but now there may be a new fan favorite on the block.

The addition of Solomon Reed not only seems like an exciting next step for the DLC, but it also makes use of the wonderful talents of Idris Elba and I for one couldn't be more excited.

Video games have made the leap to using well-known actors. Think of the cast of The Quarry or Rami Malek in Until Dawn. While that could be a risk for the studios, it nails the game's narrative if you get the right talent.

Flashback to Until Dawn, Rami Malek's performance was amazing. Honestly, the entire cast was amazing, but seeing the character of Rummy and the distances he's traveled is one of the reasons Until Dawn is among my favorites.

So I hope Idris is as good as I expect because I'm so excited to be back in the new and improved Night City.
