Cyberpunk 2077 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch

Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on a wide range of platforms when it launches in November, but you won't find it on Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service. The news was recently confirmed by Radek Grabowski, CD Projekt Red's senior director of public relations, on Twitter. When VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb used Cyberpunk 2077 as an example of the kind of third-party hit version Microsoft might consider having on Game Pass, Grabowski put a halt to all other speculation by responding, "You'll have to pick another example, Jeff. No plans. from Game Pass for Cyberpunk 2077."

You don't need Game Pass

Giving subscribers unlimited access to over 100 games for a monthly fee of €9.99 / €7.99 / €10.95 AU Xbox Game Pass is an attractive proposition for Xbox owners, especially since Xbox ownership titles are available on this launch. It's not entirely surprising, though, that CD Projekt Red isn't interested in making Cyberpunk 2077 a Game Pass title, at least not right away. Although Game Pass is proving popular as it gathers millions of subscribers, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated titles this year and making it available on the exit subscription service would mean risking lost sales. So while CD Projekt Red and Xbox had a good relationship between the release of Cyberpunk 2077, with the special edition Xbox One X and controller, Xbox Game Pass doesn't appear to be in the works. After some delays, Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 19, 2020 with a Stadia release with free updates expected for Xbox Series X and PS5 at a later date.
