To everyone's surprise (except perhaps frontman Tom Cruise), Top Gun: Maverick blew up the worldwide box office to become the biggest movie of 2022 (so far) and one of Hollywood's most successful and most accomplished sequels of all. the times.

Top Gun: Maverick VOD release date
Top Gun: Maverick flew into theaters on May 27th 2022but the film did so well, for so long, that Paramount opted to let it run in theaters until October.
Top Gun: Maverick is available for purchase on streaming services at August 23st, 2022 — some 91 days after its theatrical debut. You can now buy the movie on Apple TV (Opens in a new tab), Vudu (Opens in a new tab), Amazon (Opens in a new tab) and other VOD platforms for €19.99 / €13.99, which is a good deal considering the download prices of other blockbuster movies in recent years.
This post-theater release schedule is in line with Maverick's Paramount stablemate, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which hit VOD platforms roughly three months after hitting theaters.
If you want to watch Top Gun: Maverick from a physical disc, the movie's Blu-Ray release date has passed. November 1th 2022which means that it is now available for purchase in most regions.
Top Gun: Maverick Paramount Plus Release Date
Paramount has confirmed that Top Gun: Maverick will land exclusively on Paramount Plus in the US, UK and Australia on December 22th 2022. The film's UK release date was announced in October, before Paramount confirmed the same US release date in November.

Ever an advocate of the cinematic experience, the film's star Tom Cruise wholeheartedly resisted the temptation to release Top Gun: Maverick directly to streaming services after a series of pandemic-related delays dating back to June 2019.
When asked at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival if he had ever considered releasing the film to streamers, Cruise simply replied: "It's not going to happen. I already make movies for the big screen."
And boy, did the actor's stamina pay off for Paramount. As of this writing, Top Gun: Maverick has grossed €1.450 billion at the worldwide box office, a figure that puts the film at number 11 on the list of the highest-grossing films of all time. In the years since the start of the global pandemic, only Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed more money. It's no wonder Cruise and Paramount chose to extend the theatrical run of Top Gun: Maverick for as long as they did.
So, to clarify: While the film is now available to purchase on multiple VOD streams, Top Gun: Maverick is coming to Paramount Plus in the US, UK, and Australia on December 22, 2022.
By the way, Paramount Plus is now available in more regions than ever before. The service recently launched in the UK, debuted in the US last year, and costs €9.99/€6.99 per month (or €4.99 per month for ad-supported viewing, if you're in the US).
In our opinion, however, Paramount Plus is not yet in a position to compete with Netflix and Disney Plus, and studio executives hope Top Gun: Maverick will change that reality in December.
